WELCOME to London Youth Radio

LYR is a project created by SOPAM. The project has a focus on young people in the UK and it promotes young people's intellectual, creative, and professional growth through education and access to media. The project is a youth-led multimedia enterprise, providing learning and broadcasting opportunities to young people. LYR media education, broadcast journalism, technical training and production activities provide unique opportunities in social, professional and leadership development for the youth. So, by connecting youth with their communities through media literacy and professional development, they become active partners in civic engagement.

One of the primary goals of LYR is to instill a long-term commitment and engagement on the part of the young people as viable contributors and leaders in the media/arts, journalism and civic life. Most of our programs and services will strengthen life skills, motivate the need for graduation, support higher education goals and prepare participants for careers in the 21st century.
